Martínez Alesanco's elegant and structured Gran Reserva has been selected from low yielding Tempranillo and Garnacha vines which are over 50 years old. It spent the fermentation process in new american oak barrels, and then aged in new french oak barrels for 24 months. It spent another 3 years resting in the bottle before being released to the market.

Only a few years along the life of a vineyard are apt for the making of a 'Gran Reserva'. These are 'magic' vintages in which the grapes evolve in a perfect way, knowing it will become a historic year in which the hand of the wine-maker together with his experience will make it an immortal wine. These wines were only made in 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010, before this 2011 vintage.
