Abadía de San Quirce M9
Abadía de San Quirce M9
M9 is a very special wine from Abadía de San Quirce. Along with Finca Helena, it's one of their top two wines. A wonderful red wine, it has a good presence of red fruit and volume, but great minerality which makes it very fresh and delightful in the mouth.
The vineyards are over 60 years old and located at a very high altitude of 920 meters above sea level, and with a north-south distribution. At this altitude many problems can be avoided, such as illnesses and frost. In the area there is always a light breeze which avoids spores and bacteria to land on the grapes. Likewise, and contrary to what it may look like, at this high altitude it is rare to experience frost, since the hot air masses rise, preventing frost over the vineyard.
The soils of limestone and clay make the vineyard of M9 one of the most special the winery owns.
Hand-picked and selected, the wine spent 14 months ageing in french oak barrels.
Beautiful bright cherry color, with deep hue. On the nose it is very balanced with red fruits, balsamic and fresh spice aromas. Fresh and silky in the palate, very fine and elegant, with a long finish, reminding us of the great Atlantic wines.
